Ayr Wargames Club was formed in the mid 1970's by six keen wargamers, three of whom are still regular players.
We have had and still have a couple of National Championship winners in our ranks.
The Club has 10 members at the moment and our meetings are friendly and fun, with almost every period of warfare being played as well as Fantasy and Futuristic games.
New Members are always welcome and don't even have to bring rules or figures as we have a vast collection of both as well as large amounts of table-top terrain. We are always happy to organise Games for our members, all levels of experience can be accomodated from beginner to more experienced players.
In addition to the weekly games, there are long-running campaigns. This creates lots of friendly rivalry between the players and there are still fondly remembered victories and defeats from past campaigns over the years. Currently we are fighting a WW II German\Russian campaign based around the Battle of Kursk on the Russian Front. The Battle-Honours to date are almost evenly split between the two armies...
Throughout the year we visit various events and shows in Scotland and we attend the Sheffield Triples. Our Club enjoys a long-standing friendship with the Sheffield Wargames Society and we host a 'return' battle of enormous size every year for our friends when they visit in the Autumn.
We meet almost every Sunday from 12:00 to 18:00 hrs. The first meeting is free, after which there is a small fee of £5 for Adults and £2.50 for under 18's. Tea and Coffee is available at no extra charge.
Unfortunately, due to recent changes in the Law concerning the supervision of minors, we are unable to accept anyone under 16 years of age in to our Club.
Please feel free to contact us if you have any questions or just come along for a visit and a chat.
We look forward to meeting you!
